Steps to
Buying a Home

Property Search

The Internet . . . makes it possible for you to search for your next home from the comfort of your present one.

Basic listing information and photographs from your regional multiple listing service (MLS) are now fed to external websites where you can perform your own property search.

My company's property search page is a good place to start looking for homes in Connecticut. Realtor.com and Homes.com have a wider reach.

I encourage my clients . . .to use the web as much as possible. It's particularly useful at the beginning of your search to give you a sense of what you can expect from the current market. As a Realtor®, I have access to tools and a level of detail that aren't directly available to the consumer so I'm able to customize searches and set up automated email notification of new listings. If you're at your desk, and I'm showing properties, you may well see new listings before I do.

When you find or are notified about a property that seems appealing, just call or email me to arrange a showing.

Automation has its limits . . . the search criteria I enter will turn up some homes that don't interest you. As we get to know each other better, I'll be learning more about what you're looking for beyond the usual initial requirements of price and location. I'll want your honest responses to homes that I think will appeal to you. Believe me, you won't hurt my feelings with negative comments. The more I know about your likes and dislikes, the more efficient our search will be. Please remember though that the search results are just the first phase of a screening process. You need to perform the next screening step yourself.
